Tim Tebow: an example of Patriotic Optimism

During times of stress and crisis, human nature relies on identifying examples that could makes us see through the fog.

As I have lately been mostly reading and partly writing about the present European and in particular Italian situation, I grew everyday more convinced that only a deep sense of Optimism focused on Patriotic values could lead a country out of troubled waters (cfr. Ottimismo Patriottico)

My search for an example was quite tough, for NONE of the present politicians or technocrats is apt for the task.

So I looked at sports.

Previous life experiences brought me to Denver and made me breathe the Mile High atmosphere of the local football team: the Denver Broncos.

The team has been living the past decades under the shadow of the myth of the great John Elway. No other player was so charismatic and able to establish a true leadership and partially replace the Hall-of-famer.

Until after 5 games of the present regular season the rookie QB, Tim Tebow, stepped up and turned the losing streak into an unbelievable winning series.  The amazing record of the Broncos was build mainly on incredible comebacks, as that of today with the visiting Chicago Bears, trailing 10-0 at the 2-minute warning (courtesy of the NFL:com).

The Tebow-mania is growing across the Nation thanks to the example that this kid is setting forth. Strong believe in Jesus Christ, his teammates and his capacity of managing stressful situations. As mentioned in Frank Bruni's article in the NYTimes, he is establishing a new model beyond logic, stats and historical reports: he is developing and conveying the Gospel of Optimism.

Well, these sets of values could be supportive for any Country and become the base onto which design and build a new model. Country leaderships might get inspired and generate that positive vibe that is necessary to re-establish growth.

So, let's go Broncos, let's go Teeeebooow!!!!
