Candy Crush in Management

How often your projects had a clear established target? Most of the time, I hope.

At the same time, how often did you have limited resources (e.g. time, budget, collaborators etc)? Quite often, I would assume if you are an active person.

In addition, how often distractions diverted your focus from the above target?Distractions are like butterflies buzzing around our heads”.

On top of that, how many times the path to your target was hindered or blocked by unexpected and unpredicted obstacles?

Last but not least, I`m sure that in the midst of all of that some urgent matter or emergency arose and needed full attention for a short period of time, didn`t it?

Well all of the above is condensed in any level of the famous, popular and viral game Candy Crush by King Company.

Most of the time we are so embedded in our problems/targets that we lose focus and feel like we are stuck. That is the moment when we reach out for something to make us not think of our issues….and we get mindlessly hooked playing simple games.

However, are we really “mindless” in those occasions? Our most powerful organ, the brain, keeps working and working….and at times we divert the frustration of our tasks to that of not having passed to the next level…and we pay a small amount of money to keep the game alive.

What if we would consider that money as a fee to train our brain in short-term problem solving?

Candy Crush has all the necessary features to allow for improving our problem solving capabilities. It really does work. I have tested it few times for professional and private issues and through playing the game and not passing to the next level I solved the other problem and reached my targets.

If problem solving is the core of management, in the office, at home or in any other activity, Candy Crush might hold some hidden hints to the next level in your targets in the real world.

By the way, if you want to pass any Candy Crush level, do not focus on it….but play it mindlessly!

Democracy or Plutocracy?

These days we are undergoing what is one of the most clear stages of the overruling of democracy by plutocracy.

Here is an interesting article in Italian by Giovanni Marizza (Quella della finanza è la nuova guerra mondiale) extracted from the online magazine "L'Occidentale".

Some of the topics mentioned in the complete article are amazingly in-line with some of those presented in my blog:

The fictive World of "The Matrix" seems every day more real than fiction. We the People are the generators of resources than "others" will exploit!

We the People should take back our Leadership and start a real revolution against those non-democratic powers, regaining our Optimism!

Is Goldman Sachs mastering Climate Change hoax?

Few weeks back, I wrote a post about the deep questions that Global warming theory is generating with its inconsistency (read Global warming or Global Hoax)

In the meantime, Canada has officially dropped out of the Kyoto Protocol, as anticipated in the press.  This move seemed very inconsistent with the new trends of the US, where Barack Obama has been calling for stronger support to the "Green Economy".

In search of answers, I stumbled in the interesting and mind-opening article by Matt Taibbi on Rolling Stones titled "The Great American Bubble Machine". In his article Mr. Taibbi recalls the role played by Goldman Sachs as master-minder of all the financial bubbles that impacted the World economy starting with the great depression of 1929.

He defines Goldman as "The world's most powerful investment bank is a great vampire squid wrapped around the face of humanity, relentlessly jamming its blood funnel into anything that smells like money."

At the end of the article, we finally get the the key point about the environmental plan called "cap-and-trade". This program strongly sponsored by Goldman would turn the CO2 credits into commodities to be speculatively traded and henceforth generate a new bubble.

As reported "the firm spent $3.5 million to lobby climate issues" and has bought companies and participations anticipating the the path where money would flow once the tap will open.

From this perspective, it is worth to reconsider Al Gore's Nobel Prize (what about Obama's preventive one on Peace!!!!) at the same time of all the catastrophic announcements about the Global Warming.

Bottom line, free market exists only for middle-class people to put their money and lose them for the advantage of few, which will be supported by politicians previously "aligned" with carefully planned strategies (watch "Inside Job"). Global Warming is just another hoax and tax-payers will be there to generate richness to fuel Goldman's Machine, in a typical Matrix scheme.
